Awards for Excellence in Health and Wellness, Recreation and Education

Thrive Allen County makes annual awards for excellence in the areas of health and wellness, recreation, and education.  The purposes of the awards are:

• To recognize excellence by people and organizations that conduct activities central to Thrive’s mission; and
• To incentivize other people and organizations to strive for a “Thrive” award by increasing or improving their services.

Criteria
In order to be eligible for an award organizations or individuals must have done one or more of the following:

• Expanded access to a particular service in the areas of health and wellness, recreation or education;
• Reached individuals or groups that had previously been underserved or not served at all;
• Shown excellence in partnership or collaboration with other organizations.

Organizations or individuals that provide or support health, wellness, education or recreation services in Allen County are eligible to receive a Thrive award.  Award winners will be selected by the Thrive board of directors.

Talkington Award
The Donna Talkington Award for Service to Allen County is the highest award given by Thrive.  It recognizes exemplary activities by individuals or organizations that meaningfully impact the delivery of health and wellness services in Allen County.  The award can recognize activities in any or all of the three focus areas (health/wellness, recreation, education), OR other activities as determined by the Board of Directors.

How to Nominate
Anyone can make a nomination for a Thrive award!  Self-nominations are accepted.  Nominations can be made by web, phone, email, in person or in writing (nominations are now closed).  Those making nominations should provide key details about the nominee including their name, contact information, the organization(s) they represent, and how the work done fits with the criteria listed above.  We also request that the person making the nomination provide their contact information in case there are questions from the Thrive board or staff.

2012 Awards Will Be Presented at the Thrive Annual Meeting on Friday, November 16, 2012.
