Walk With Ease

March 29, 2012

Walk with Ease was developed as a walking program to encourage people with and without arthritis to get started walking and stay motivated to keep active.  The program is designed to be done either on your own, or by participating with a group of walkers.  The Model is set up as a 6-week program.  During that time, participants will work up to walking at least three times a week.  The idea is to start at a reasonable amount of time and at a reasonable pace and build up to 30 minutes or more of walking each day you walk.  The program also includes 3 other important components: health information, stretching and strengthening exercises, and motivational tools and tips.  Online tools are available to support participants that include: a movement tracker, a message board, and automated email service alerting participants when milestones are reached.

Program offered through the Iola Recreation Department.  For more information, please contact Jake Lawrence at 620.365.4990.  You do not need to be an Iola resident to participate.
